House Democratic Leaders on Women's Health Protection Act

Representative Judy Chu (CA) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY) were joined by fellow Democrats and two advocates in announcing the reintroduction of the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would ensure access to abortion throughout the country. The lawmakers said they saw the legislation as essential in the wake of the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case, which overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision which assured access to abortion in all states.
